Humility in Business
I personally find this topic very difficult. I am not a humble person by nature. I love the chase and the struggle of business and I revel in the rewards. This weekend, Julie & I had the opportunity to sit in on a talk given by Chris & Terry Brady, co-authors of upcoming book, Launching a Leadership Revolution and an enormously wealthy couple who own some very large companies. Skillful Balance
From the time that I first started longboarding, I have been on a quest to find the best spot on my board to maintain perfect balance. I have gotten pretty good at finding it. Now what? Fighting to maintain a stronghold on my balance is a great practice in skill, but it is not artful. It’s like putting primer on a canvas.
Creating Happy Customers
In the last 20 years, Gallup has interviewed over a billion customers, trying to identify what they really want. As you would expect, they first discovered that a customer’s needs vary by industry. Surprisingly though, they found 4 sets of customer expectation that consistently spanned across various types of business and people. These expectation are what they call hierarchical, meaning that you need to accomplish 1 and 2 before 3 has any value. I was thinking about this and decided to apply it to our company and industry.
