I reinstalled XP and each app. I could have done an image of my pc and dumped it in. I'm sure it would have worked quite well. I don't tend to do that on a new computer because I consider it a chance to clean house. Just like every time we have moved homes, I take the opportunity to throw out a ton of stuff and reorganize.

shane, can you blog your parallels experience? was it a true "brain swap transfer" or did you have to reinstall xp and then reinstall every app?

dugg for a reference to zork.

on the note of wifi-range, my bro (mac) and i (brand new dell laptop) did a range test at cal poly and he kicked my butt consistently... although he does have a little plactic 15", but either way, Dell hasn't really impressed me there either. Technically speaking, I think it has more to do with the wireless router's broadcast range than the laptop antenna, but when I'm in class and every mac kid is surfing the net while i'm taking notes because i'm out of range, its little consolation.

Regarding your bemoaning the loss of the right click, try this: Go into your system preferences/keyboard & mouse and then put a check mark next to "Place two fingers on trackpad and click button for secondary click". I hope it's as life-changing for you as it was for me.
