Shane and Peter,
You guys are doing amazing experiment on making independent contributor's dream life come true. I can imagine how relaxed I would feel if my company arranged some outdoor comapany meeting which is also includes family vacation.
Hope you all are successfull....good luck! and yes, thats a very nice picture :)

Hi Shane & Peter. A hatch you say eh. If you had gone inside you would have found only more questions leading to fewer answers. :

@Bjorn: Ironically, we did find a mysterious metal hatch at the top of the volcano that we hiked atop... beat that JJ Abrams. I always thought the one thing Lost was missing was that the entire island was an active volcano.

Great post Peter - the trip has definitely got me re-energized and at the same time has given me quite a bit of perspective. It's funny that while in an in-house studio you do have the generic hallway chatter, but with the few studio's and in-house situations I have found myself in, there's been a distinct lack of open-ended strategic talks like we had. And yet, I left the trip feeling that the discussions we were able to have were pretty vital to both the success of the team and the individuals involved around the team.

It was also pretty cool to have all the wives/girlfriends along for the ride too, which kinda rounds out the entire lifestyle of independent contracting. It definitely would have felt like something was missing without them. Anyways, I'll look forward to another busy year of work and hopefully meeting more people in our little e-team to have along with us next year. There certainly is a "cementing" effect that trips like this can have on the strength of a team and it'll be fun to continue to grow ours.

Bjorn, that's hilarious. The funny thing is i often made comments to that effect while we were there. I found a hatch and there were tons of "others" sporting shotguns ad surfboards.

Alli. Mooney. Got it.

Dad (marvin), great observation. Let us hope that we can make the play sustainable.

Better to make work into play than to make play into work. Seems like you've managed it. Great pics.

Looks like we've found the midsection occupants from Oceanic Flight 815. Don't go on the boat! It's a trap. :o
